Acupuncture is a whole healing system that has been utilized for thousands of years to help bring our bodies into energetic balance and in turn promote healing and optimal functioning. Acupuncture is based on a system of energetic channels that run through the body like rivers, and when the energy or “qi” is flowing smoothly then the body is considered to be in a balanced and healthy state. Out registered acupuncturists will select a specific pattern of points to open these channels, promote healing, and to treat the root causes of what may be creating a variety of symptoms for the patient. That is the beautiful thing about this medicine, we do not focus on just one symptom at a time. Rather we want to look at the whole picture to try and treat what is at the root of causing all of these different symptoms to arise. Additionally, treatments can include other modalities that will also support the body’s energetic function including cupping, gua sha or moxibustion.

As a wellness clinic a big part of our mission is not just about supporting clients within our community but also about making sure our practitioners, therapists, healers, coaches and service providers of all kinds; are given a space to support each other in their growth, education, development and healing.

Communities must engage and help each other cultivate practices that are reciprocal and sustainable in order for wellness to truly make an impact in our society. Part of our responsibility as wellness practitioners is continuing our education in relational, de-colonial, and sustainable ways in order to contribute to a truly holistic and ethical health and wellness culture. Our commitment to health and wellness providers is foundational in how we choose to show up as a community.

Our consulting and mentorship opportunities are a way to support new and aspiring wellness providers, as well as seasoned and experienced providers that need a supportive space to transform their work from burnout, exhaustion and apathy to sustainable, fulfilling and thriving practices for reciprocal healing.

Offering de-colonial ways of healing is vital in our ongoing mission to create new systems of wellness within our communities. Part of this practice is developing opportunities for practitioners and clients to enter relational ritual space that allows ancestral technologies to guide our work. These containers offer people an opportunity to reconnect to their lineages and ancestry, with respect, humility and courage in a devoted, relational and responsible way.

Part of decolonizing our practices as therapists, practitioners, healers, coaches and health care providers is about education that is not taught within the current western educational frameworks but has existed for generations through the land and through relational bodies. Bringing somatic animist technologies and wisdom to the forefront of our work means allowing play, creativity, and love to express through the many modalities and art forms that exist within our world.

Movement, sound, art, writing, prayer, creation in all its forms is de-colonial by nature. These containers offer us, as a community, an opportunity to explore a different way of being held, witnessed, heard and expressed, while also tapping into the magic of creation as an integrated physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual healing process.

Hi my name is Nathali Arostegui Romero. I’m an Indigenous Mestiza Latina who comes from a lineage of medicine weavers, jump starting my path into healing from a very young age. I graduated from Sutherland Chan massage therapy school, in Toronto, back in 2011 but my initiations into this line of work have been unfolding for much longer.

During my years of deep struggle and resilience, I dove deeply into dance, sex magic, body language and touch as ways of moving energy and power but also as a way of understanding myself and society more deeply. I explored these art forms of communication within a society that stigmatizes, distorts and inevitably ends up perpetuating the harms it claims to want to “heal”.

When I became a mother, the path I had walked and would journey forward into, would became more clear. I entered an even deeper layer of initiations that was helping me see the ways in which the systems of oppression we live in, were weaved into the work we do as practitioners, therapists, bodyworkers, healers, and health care workers of all kinds, within our modern western world.

The work I choose to do today or the work that chose me, is the work of creation, life and death are my teachers! I co-weave all my work, art and play with the ancestors and beings that have walked with me and that continue to walk with me on this Journey.

What I’m being called to share in this next evolution of life and work, is to share my medicine with those who know there is another way; a deeper, more peaceful, fulfilling and sustainable way to how we do life. This is for those committed to embracing friends, peers, and beings who are also on this path of re-membering; weaving and planting seeds for the great work alongside our mother earth.

Whether you enter my world through massage, mentorship, consulting, 1on1 or group work, you will transform! This work is culture work, it is gentle yet powerful, slow yet steady, still but will move you in ways only Your Spirit will recognize.

This work is relational, decolonial, and reciprocal and it’s a privilege for me to walk alongside you as you uncover the medicine that already lives within you and all around you. I welcome you to book an online consultation to see if and what work is waiting to be co-weaved together.

With Deep Gratitude and Presence Always

Hi! My name is Marika. I was born and raised in the beautiful city of Victoria, BC. I pursued my passion for wellness and healing by studying at the West Coast College of Massage Therapy.

I am a queer and Indigenous practitioner, and these aspects of my identity have been pillars on my journey of discovery and remembering. Embracing my queerness has brought me so much joy and peace, which then led me to start reconnecting with and better understanding my ancestral identity. I have ancestral ties to the Tlingit and Penelakut peoples, as well as Dutch and Scandinavian roots. As a white-presenting person, it hasn’t always been easy to claim my Indigenous roots, but I have come to understand how vital ancestral reconnection is on the path to healing. I hope to share this understanding and support others on their own journeys of self-discovery and healing.

I did not always know that massage therapy was my path to serving the collective. I have struggled a lot with anxiety and depression in my life. And yet, it was when I was in one my darkest and most painful times that the idea of becoming an RMT was presented to me. This profession has given me so much healing and I hope that my own personal transformation can help others.

The foundations of my practice are trust, safety, and reconnecting mind, body and spirit. I value holistic, intuitive, inclusive, and body-neutral care. I believe that having the space to fully relax and be heard is healing in and of itself and that our bodies retain all the wisdom necessary for healing and wholeness; we just need to tune into the “language” they speak.

Amidst the challenges in our world, both on an individual and global scale, my goal for my practice is to create space to offer more compassion, grounding, and support to others. Through this work, I hope to offer more profound avenues of healing for myself, my clients, and the collective. I wish to amplify the impact of my work by sharing more of my authentic self and the wisdom that flows through me, fostering the reconnection of Body, Mind, and Spirit for others.

I always strive to make my clinic room a safe and trauma-informed space. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to make you more comfortable during your appointment.

Hello! My name is Sasha Ormiston and I am a Registered Acupuncturist, co-owner of Opal Skin Studios and owner of Nurture and Flo Wellness Clinic.

I am greatly inspired by the magic in nature around me, the beauty in every day life, and my experiences through pregnancy and being a mother. I aspire to bring all these elements into my clinic and treatments, taking my practice to another level and offering an experience like no other.

Since completing my acupuncture studies I have further been certified in Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, a natural, painless and non-surgical procedure to help treat anything from fine lines, rosacea, acne and early signs of aging. This is one of my absolute favourite treatments to give and people walk out feeling incredible and absolutely glowing. To me natural beauty is so much more than cosmetic appearance. I love working with clients to find their confidence and nourishing their health from the inside, producing a truly beautiful reflection on the outside.

Additionally I have also taken further training to support prenatal patients from conception up until birth and postpartum. Supporting pregnancy has become a core part of my practice, treating anything from morning sickness, insomnia, aches and pains, heartburn, labour support and preparation and everything in between. Hi there! I am Rebecca Waterman CNP, and I want you to eat well. I believe that food has the power to heal and transform. As a Holistic Nutritionist my focus is on supporting individuals with goals centered on realigning hormonal health, stress and the connections to digestive health. I am excited to join the Opal Wellness team!

My own health journey started with burnout, digestive issues and hormonal imbalances while working multiple jobs, attending school and experiencing complex personal stressors - life! After experiencing burnout, I knew I needed to take control of my health and started to heal my relationship to food and my body. As I healed my body, I took this momentum quickly into rigorous nonprofit work which inevitably led me to experience burnout once again as I was not considering a whole person approach for myself. As this was not my first rodeo with burnout, and I knew I needed to make a change, I decided to seize this opportunity to formalize my experience in holistic health and nutrition through attending the Institute of Holistic Nutrition. This education gave me the tools to more directly serve the wellbeing of my community.

As a member of the 2LGBTQIA+ community and through my history of working supporting food security, sovereignty and wellness in non-profit spaces, I knew it was important for me to create a practice that is inclusive, trauma-informed and takes into account intersections of wellness that exist in all individuals including marginalized communities. In addition to this, I bring over 10 years of experience in the health and wellness industry, where I have done recipe creation, menu design, conducted job skills training programs, skin health consultations and more.

This journey to improved health, while not easy, has informed the compassion that I carry into meeting individuals, and truly believe the path towards healing is one that takes a whole person approach. This means that I see individuals for who they are beyond their diet, and make meaningful recommendations that fit the lifestyle of the individual while providing options that are both delicious and informed. Rooted in empathetic listening, together we will create personalized protocols and spend time learning and honouring you and your health journey. I believe we all have the innate power within us to transform, and I look forward to walking alongside you on your path to greater ease.

Along with working at other clinics providing one on one nutritional consultations, I have been working at Opal Wellness since opening in March 2024. I feel continuously inspired by the incredible network of practitioners, and the wonderful people who make Opal Wellness the special place that it is. I look forward to meeting you!
